Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais is an exceptionally small batch release that marries the pinnacle of Irish whiskey with the world’s finest oak from the forest of Tronçais in France. Specially developed under the watchful eye of Midleton Very Rare Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman, this rare and luxurious whiskey is a testament to craftsmanship that has been honed and honoured through the ages across Ireland and France. While the whiskey is the exceptional quality you would expect of Midleton Very Rare, it’s finishing in T5 casks adds a special difference to this release making it a first of its kind.

Located in Allier, Auvergne in France, Forêt de Tronçais is world renowned in the whiskey community. Originally its oaks were planted by Louis XIV’s minister Jean-Baptiste Colbert to supply the French Navy, and the principal trees within this spectacular forest are sessile oak, whose ancient name in French, ‘tronce’ gave its name to the district. The forest is managed with expertise and accuracy by the National Forests Office and the particular oaks that were felled when the right time came to allow the other oaks in the forest to flourish.

MVR Foret de Troncais

These speciality oaks from a forest of wonder are the namesake of this release, as this oak has been used with care to create casks worthy of this spectacular whiskey at an equally impressive Taransaud Cooperage. Back in 1672 the first member of the Taransaud family became a cooper and in the century since the name has become synonymous with unrivalled craftsmanship and a pioneering spirit that has taken the time-honoured art of cask-making to even greater heights.

What Midleton is to whiskey, Taransaud is to cask-making. The combination of these like-minded skilled craftspeople who are as passionate about their work as they are about learning from other’s expertise is what sets Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais apart from other whiskies on the market. This release is something as rare and unique as it is luxurious and special.

For those careful and considered whiskey collectors and connoisseurs looking to add a rare symphony of taste, expertise, and spectacle to their collections, Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais is available now to purchase by clicking the link below.
