A Legacy In Every Detail: The Craft Behind Silent Distillery Chapter Six
At Midleton, nothing is ever created by chance. Every decision is measured, every detail deliberate—and our Silent Distillery Collection Chapter Six is the ultimate expression of that philosophy. As the final chapter in a journey that began over 50 years ago, this release marks more than the closing of a collection. It marks the culmination of generations of expertise—not just in whiskey making, but in design, craftsmanship, and storytelling.
The process behind Silent Distillery Chapter Six is not just the making of a whiskey, but the creation of everything that surrounds it. From the liquid to the vessel, to the cabinet it rests in, every element has been made to honour the place that inspired it all: Old Midleton Distillery.
The Decanter: A Vessel Worthy of Legacy

A whiskey of this magnitude demands a vessel that meets its rarity. This vessel had to reflect the same dedication to tradition, precision, and craft as the whiskey itself—a bespoke glass decanter, individually mouth-blown using skills passed down over 2,000 years.
The decanter was brought to life by the master artisans at Ireland’s globally renowned House of Waterford. Each one is shaped by hand, its flowing lines refined through a process that combines ancient techniques with modern excellence. Once formed, each piece is etched and polished by hand, showing the true commitment to craftsmanship that ensures no two creations are ever the same. These subtle differences, born of the handmade process, add personality and individuality to every decanter. And with that, they echo the spirit of the liquid inside—a one-of-a-kind whiskey, held in a one-of-a-kind vessel.
The Cabinet: A Final Tribute in Wood and Silver

Completing the final release is a cabinet that can only be described as a work of art. Designed and made by John Galvin, an acclaimed Irish wood maker known for blending engineering precision with contemporary style, the cabinet is more than just a display.
To mark each of the six chapters, six distinct woods were selected and combined: tiger brown oak burr, lacewood, elm burr, tamo ash, walnut burr, and, for Silent Distillery Chapter Six, the stunning blue bird’s eye maple. Each wood brings its own tone, texture, and history. Together, they tell a story of rarity and luxury.
As a final flourish, the cabinet features sterling silver accents and reclaimed oak from original Irish whiskey vats—a nod to heritage and sustainability, and a fitting tribute to the spirit it holds.
The Pinnacle of Irish Whiskey Craft
From the moment the whiskey was first distilled to the day it was sealed in glass and wood, Silent Distillery Chapter Six has been shaped by masters of their craft. It is the product of generations, of distillers, coopers, glassmakers, and designers, all working toward a singular purpose: to honour the legacy of Old Midleton Distillery.
This isn’t just a release. It’s a moment in Irish whiskey history—one captured not only in taste, but in every element surrounding it. From liquid to vessel to cabinet, Silent Distillery Chapter Six, the final drops, is proof that when true craftsmanship meets time, the result is nothing short of legendary.
