This exceptional release combines meticulously selected Midleton single grain and single pot still whiskeys, aged from the 1980s to the 2000s in American bourbon barrels, and finished for three years in rare T5 casks from the renowned Taransaud Cooperage, crafted from oak sourced in the Forêt de Tronçais in France.
Aroma
Oak enriched perfumed aromas with delectable fruit notes of poached pears, caramelised apples, and orange zest. Additional notes of honeycomb and toasted hazelnut continue to evolve in tandem with the building aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. The woodland spices are brought to the fore by the elegant and measured influence of the extra fine-grained French oak, adding nuanced characteristics that enhance the pot still spices and floral grain whiskeys in this complex and aged blend.
Taste
Herbal at first, with notes of fresh peppermint and sage, weaving amongst the succulent orchard fruits and zesty orange. This release features a bespoke batch of very special Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais single grain and single pot still whiskeys matured from the 1980s to 2000s in American bourbon barrels.
This blend was expertly selected and surveyed under the watchful eye of Midleton Very Rare Forêt de Tronçais Master Distiller Kevin O’Gorman and was finished for three years in a T5 cask from Taransaud Cooperage. This cask is as luxurious and rare as the whiskey that lay inside.
T5 casks are world-renowned due to the high degree of skill that is required to make them, and are carefully coopered from the striking and manicured oak of Forêt de Tronçais. This oak produces a very fine-grain wood which is stringently selected and naturally seasoned in the open air for five years before being made into this specialty cask.
