Each Midleton Very Rare whiskey that catches your eye, adorns your shelf or passes your lips has come from our iconic Midleton Distillery. You may wonder where we stumbled upon the name for our 1825 Room collection, and it has a richer story than you think.
As the Murphy family began to distill in Midleton in 1825, we felt the name was a nod to the innovation and passion that started this legacy. Nearly 200 years have passed since distillation began for the first time, and even through the greatest hardships, the roots of Irish whiskey production remained strong in West Cork. It wasn’t until the industry’s resurgence in the 1980s that saw the launch of the Midleton Very Rare range of vintages to critical acclaim.
