Our Sustainability Commitment

Midleton Very Rare - Our Sustainability Commitment

Last year, Irish Distillers announced plans for Midleton Distillery to become carbon neutral by 2026 using break-through emissions reducing technology. The €50M investments represents the largest by an Irish distillery to date in pursuit of this ambition and puts Midleton Distillery on track to become Ireland’s first and largest carbon neutral distillery.

Since 2010, Irish Distillers has invested over €100 million to improve operational efficiency at the distillery, which has already resulted in a 30 percent reduction in energy consumption and 47 per cent reduction in C02 emissions per litre of alcohol produced over the last 12 years.

Midleton Distillery was also named Sustainable Distillery of the Year at the 2022 ICONS of Whiskey.
